I wanted to add that he also received a Bronze star in the war. He was involved in managing and assisting in all baseball activities from little league to high school. He was a tough old man that pushed his son to achieve only the best in all sports that he played. He only wanted to win.

Jerry Lenington Gerald E. Lenington "Jerry", 59, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side after fighting a courageous battle on October 16, 2006.

He was born October 18, 1946 in Akron, Ohio. Jerry received a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam , and later retired from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 35 years of service. He worked part-time at Firestone Country Club and was a member of the Mogadore Moose.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Pittman (Jim); father, Lowell Lenington (Opal); daughters, Julie Lenington (Steven), Lone Lenington (Scotty); son, Jerry Lenington, Jr.. (Kristin); grandchildren who meant the world to him, Tyler, Emmie and Jordan; sisters, Sheila Hrubovcak, Judy Rutherford (Mike); half-sister, Karen Lenington; loving companion, JoAnn Denious and her children, Kolton and Kayla; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; mother of his children, Betty Lenington.
