Rememberance by Mike Shuman
May 2005

Brad was/is my birth cousin. His mom and my Dad are first cousins, we were born 9 days apart and both grew up on Howe Rd.

Not too long before his passing Paul Anderson (Andy)and I visited Brad and his wife at their home. We had a good time talking about old times, our childhood and school. Brad said he first noticed a lump in the muscle above his right shoulder blade. When it kept growing he had it checked out. But it was too late. The cancer had already spread to his lungs and other areas. He was comfortable with his morphine pills and rocking in his chair.

Brad graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science from a school in Cincinatti and made it his life's work. That and his service as a Marine in Vietnam made him no stranger to death. He said he knew he was going to a better place. Brad was a member of the Jaycees and very involved in the Special Olympics. He gave much of himself to the community.

Brad passed away 20 February 1996 at 47 years of age. I know he is with God in peace and serenity.
