Deborah L. (Debbie) Bruce, 51, of Tallmadge, passed away Feb. 18, 2000, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Akron, she lived the majority of her life in Tallmadge. Debbie graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1966, and worked at Kent State University for four years, Roadway Trucking for one year and B.F. Goodrich for 29 years. She graduated from Hiram College in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in business management.

Debbie attended the Chapel at Fir Hill. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, golfing with the gals on the B.F. Goodrich Golf League, bowling, hiking at the Metro and National Parks, basketball, cross-country skiing, bird watching and traveling. She was a pet lover and was generous to the Humane Society, and was also a member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans), and Family of Bruce Society in America.

Preceded in death by her beloved father, Shelton Bruce and loving aunt, Agnes Boatwright. She is survived by her mother, Lola Bruce of Tallmadge; sisters, Kathy (Jack) Hoover of Springfield, Judy (William) Zito of Stow; brother, William Bruce of Tallmadge; nieces, Olivia Bruce, Amanda Bruce, Tammy Hoover, Ashley Daugherty; nephews, Brian Hoover, Andy Daugherty and Jesse Bruce; cousins, Shirley Holdt, Dana, Dorian, Dresden and families. Also surviving are close friends, Linda Dunlap, Marty Hilgert, Mary Ann Hilgert and Teresa Kurtzman.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22. 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 339 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, with Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, from 5 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care Center, Humane Society, or The American Cancer Society.
